Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups: Illustrated Instructions

Paint the Chocolate Cups

Refer to the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups recipe for exact quantities and instructions. Using a small pastry brush (or a clean paintbrush), brush tempered chocolate up the sides of candy cups or muffin papers. Try to make your coating as even as possible, and swirl the cups upside down to help distribute the chocolate. Hold the cups up to the light to determine whether there are any translucent spots that did not get covered adequately.

Place the chocolate cups face down on waxed paper or aluminium foil and let harden completely. You can see from the illustration that I used a mix of small candy cups and large muffin papers cut in half. Both work equally well, it’s just a matter of what size peanut butter cup you prefer to eat.

Once the chocolate hardens, you can carefully peel off the paper wrapper. Voila! You now have a beautiful chocolate cup. You can use these for other desserts or candies as well–try piping them with mousse, or filling them with caramel, fondant, or whipped cream.

The chocolate cups can also be used to hold other candies and desserts, so it’s worth the time to learn this technique. Be sure to check out the part of photo guide showing how to make chocolate peanut butter cups! [...]
